This post will be reviewing the Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Skin EX.

If you’re into Korean Skincare, there’s no way you wouldn’t have heard about Innisfree products. They are one of the first OG brands created in the year 2000 by Amore Pacific corporation. It’s been about 21 years since they have been established and given how new a lot of Korean brands are, 21 years is quite a long time. As a result of being around for a while, they have quite a number of product lines.

A quick look at their website shows about 21 product lines that are derived from Jeju Island in Korea. I didn’t even know that they had that many. Innisfree has its own massive Green Tea fields where they cultivate different natural skin-loving ingredients including Black Tea, Blueberry, Cherry Blossom, Marine Seaweed to mention a few. With the Green Tea line being one of their most popular. These ingredients are then used to formulate amazing products. I’ve used about three lines from Innisfree and I have not been disappointed so far. The hydration is simply top-notch.

Plus, they seemed to have garnered a bit of global popularity over the years. While they have their shortcomings, they are generally a well-loved brand.

After using more than half of the Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Skin EX, I’m more than ready to talk about it. So, without further ado, let’s dive into it!

Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Skin EX - Review

First Impressions: Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Skin EX

According to Innisfree:

A quick-absorbing toner that delivers hydration to help maintain skin’s oil-water balance for hydrated, healthy-looking skin.

They also went on further to give more details:

1. A toner that delivers refreshing moisture
Beauty Green Tea is 3.5 times more enriching than its predecessor with 16 kinds of amino acids to help restore clear and dewy skin.

2. Controls skin’s oil-water balance
Gently hydrates skin to keep the skin healthy.

3. Soft, dewy texture
Its viscous texture absorbs smoothly into the skin, leaving it with a fresh and comfortable finish.

Not too bad as far as product claims are concerned.

Ingredient List

I’m sure you’re wondering why this product is labelled as ‘Skin’. In Korea, toners are referred to as ‘skin’ just as they are referred to as ‘lotions’ in Japan. If you buy this product from their US website, you’ll find it labelled as a toner as opposed to skin.

As for the ingredient list, it obviously has Green Tea extract as its major ingredient. The only downside is the presence of a bunch of fragrances. This is why a lot of people have a love-hate relationship with this brand. I mean, while the fragrance doesn’t bother me, it could have been completely omitted. There’s no reason why it should be here.

Texture & Consistency

My favourite thing about this product is the consistency. It has a watery texture with a viscous consistency. It’s amazing because it just melts and disappears into my skin on application. It’s everything I want in a toner and more. I love that I can layer various products over and under it and it wouldn’t pill. Even if I won’t repurchase this particular product, I’ll definitely be looking out for Innisfree Skins and Toners in the future.

Packaging, Price & Availability

Innisfree always seems to get their packaging right every single time. I mean, I never have any issues with them. This product comes in a 200ml recyclable plastic bottle with a great applicator which ensures that you use the right amount every single time. While I prefer to go in with a couple of layers, one could also work just fine.

As for its price, it retails from about $15 – $20 depending on where you buy it. If you use it daily, the bottle can you for about 6 weeks or more.

Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Skin EX - Review

Like I mentioned earlier, I’ve been using this product for a while and I’m almost done with the bottle.

Performance

These days, toners and skins seem to do too much. They want to hydrate, tone, soothe and brighten all at the same time. While I don’t have anything against multi-functional toners, sometimes I just want a hydrating product. Nothing more, nothing less and this product DELIVERS.

The hydration is TOP-NOTCH and is just perfect for my dry dehydrated skin. Yeah, it has this earthy fragrance but I’m definitely not affected by it. It doesn’t irritate my skin. Neither does it affect the efficacy of the product. So, if you have sensitive skin and you want to try this product, I think you’ll be fine.

In Conclusion,

The backlash Innisfree gets from the fragrance in their products really doesn’t add up sometimes. Despite it, they still manage to sell out their products globally. So, if you’re usually affected by fragrance in skincare, I think you should avoid Innisfree completely. I mean, there’s no way you’re going to avoid the natural fragrance of all their products considering how they cultivate these herbs themselves in Jeju Island.

So far, I’ve never really been disappointed by Innisfree products. I just feel like I haven’t tried enough because I keep chasing the latest brands. I’m hoping that changes in the near future.
