Cerave Moisturizing Lotion – Review

This post will be reviewing the Cerave Moisturizing Lotion.

I just realised I reviewed the Cerave Moisturizing Cream years ago but never reviewed the lotion.

I automatically avoid face and body lotions for someone like me with dry, dehydrated skin.

More often than not, there are not enough for me.

But they’re usually perfect for anyone with oily to combination skin.

If, for some reason, I want to use it on my face at all, I’ll have to layer it with another thicker moisturiser or an occlusive.

Cerave as a brand has been enjoying immense popularity over the last couple of years.

Their simple, no-frills approach to affordable and accessible skincare has been a game-changer.

It’s no reason they’re paired so well with The Ordinary Skincare products.

Basic but effective.

I used this lotion to test which I preferred between both products, and I must say, I definitely prefer the cream.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not a great product; it’s not enough for my skin type.

Trust Cerave to always come through with fragrance-free products, but what about the rest of the ingredients?

As with all their staple products, this is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, three essential Ceramides and Cholesterol.

It’s pretty much the same formula across the board.

The only thing that really differentiates them is the texture and consistency of the products.

Packaging, Texture & Consistency

The product is packaged in a hygienic pump bottle that dispenses the exact amount you need.

Compared to the moisturising cream, this is a lotion with a lighter consistency.

It sinks into the sink immediately upon application and leaves a non-greasy finish.

This is one of the reasons why it is perfect for people with oily to combination skin.

They don’t have to worry about the greasiness of typical moisturisers.

I would also add that it leaves a mattifying finish.

So, don’t be afraid to use moisturisers.

There’s certainly something on the market for everyone.

As Cerave has become a global brand now, you’ll find their products very accessible, which is honestly one of the best things about the brand.

They’re pretty cheap, available, and do the work.

The product comes in three sizes depending on your usage: 8oz, 12oz and 19oz, all under $20.

Review of the Cerave Moisturizing Lotion

I use this product on my face and body, and I can confirm that it holds up.

Except that it completely sinks into my skin, leaving no trace behind.

In a way, that’s a good thing because you know that the product will penetrate your skin barrier to hydrate and moisturise it.

For those who are looking to try this product, here are some of the pros and cons to inform your decision;

Cons

• Not moisturising enough for dry to dehydrated skin.

There’s nothing wrong with this moisturiser except that it doesn’t work for me, which is fine.

Finally,

This moisturiser is famous for a reason.

It’s affordable, globally available and gets the work done.

I’ve heard some people say they don’t like it because they react to certain emollients used in the formula, but that’s just a few people in the minority with super sensitive skin.

Also, it doesn’t work for your face; you can always use it for the intended use on the body.
