December is a high point in winter, a break from the low grey skies of November and a brief respite before the deep chills and frosts that mark January and February.
This is because it contains the Christmas break with offerings that people of all faiths and none can enjoy, from cheesy Christmas music to festive markets and a plethora of hot chocolate, silly jumpers and cheerful decorations.
It’s also a very good time to buy a used car if you are in the market for one. Let’s take a look at why this is so.
Other People are Buying Gifts
The market for used cars drops quite sharply in late November, early December as people work out how much they need to put aside for Christmas presents, travel and incidentals like that huge bag of potatoes to roast on Christmas Day.
What most of them are not doing is thinking about replacing their car, except in an emergency situation.
So, when you walk into a showroom, ready to invest in your next new-to-you car, you will very likely have the run of the place and be able to take your time choosing which vehicle is going to be yours.

Dealers Slash Prices
Because their showrooms are so bereft of customers, dealers often cut their prices to rock bottom at this time of year. As well as the lack of customers, it is also a symbolic gesture too: ‘let’s get rid of these cars that have been here for a while, so there is plenty of room for new stock in January.’
This means that not only will you have the showroom to yourself (and the undivided attention of your choice of salesperson!) but you will be able to dicker for the best price or additional extras knowing that the power is yours – the salesperson will be able to offer you fantastic bargains because they are working to not only make sales, but also to clear higher-end vehicles that have not been moving because of their higher price (which is now discounted, just for you!)
KAP Motors sells pre-inspected second-hand cars with 100% guarantee and easy financing options. Get yours at KAP Used Cars Brighton Showroom.
Prices Shoot Up in January
Having cleared all the vehicles that were slow movers, the dealership will be able to bargain hard for all the cars being put up for sale as people make life changes in the new year: moving home, travelling for study, work or leisure.
They will almost inevitably put their prices up in anticipation of the increases in their overheads and salaries – but you won’t mind at all, because you will have already scored your Christmas bargain.
