How To Treat Acne Scars with BANISH

This post will sharing how to treat acne scars.

There’s a major misconception that people with dry skin can’t have acne. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. I have dry skin that is very prone to acne and like most people, my acne scars/hyperpigmentation is the bane of my existence. I’m constantly looking for the next best product that will work its magic in treating my acne scars as fast as they appear.

Check out What Causes or Aggravates Acne.

This is why I was excited when BANISH reached out to me to try their Starter kit. Banish is a skincare brand that formulates clean beauty products. Their products are plant-based, natural, vegan, freshly made and cruelty – free. They are based in the US but offer international shipping. Their founder; Daisy Jing is an acne warrior who had to undergo various trial and errors to find the best products to treat acne scars. The result is this brand. Like I mentioned earlier I was sent their Banish Starter Kit to try. This included:

  • All Clear Mint Cleanser – a mild foaming cleanser that works for most skin types.
  • Vitamin C Beauty Elixir – a hydrating facial mist
  • Banish Oil – a Vitamin C serum
  • Fighter Gel – a water-based gel that soothes redness and inflammations.
  • Vitamin C Creme – a moisturizer with 20% Vitamin C.
  • Pumpkin Enzyme Maskne – an exfoliating mask with fruit enzymes and Glycolic Acid.
  • Banisher – a gentle at-home micro-needling tool that helps to fade the appearance of old scars.

I’ll be reviewing three of the products shortly.

My favourite thing about the packaging of these products is the detailed leaflets. It’s so easy to get confused by the products and not use them correctly. But Banish has ensured that you get a step-by-step guide with details on how to use them correctly in your skincare routine to achieve the best results.

The Banisher Oil

One of the ways you can treat acne scars is by using a potent antioxidant such as Vitamin C daily in your skincare routine. The Banisher Oil is a hydrating Vitamin C serum. It is packed with Aloe Vera, Glycerin, Ferulic Acid and Vitamin E. I love how easily I can layer it with the rest of my products in my morning routine.

I used the Banisher Oil for about four weeks and I noticed a visible difference in my skin tone. Both my fresh and old scars started to fade gradually. This is not surprising because it is pure L’Ascorbic Acid – and not its derivatives – used in formulating this product. Just like most Vitamin C serums on the market, they tend to oxidize quickly. But with Banish Oil, it has been packaged in a black pipette bottle to prolong its life and decrease oxidization time. To further extend its shelf life, make sure you store it in the fridge or a cool place.

Fighter Gel

This is a water-based gel that is amazing for anyone that is easily prone to redness and irritation. Even if you aren’t prone to any inflammation, everyone sometimes wakes up to painful pimples that refuses to go away. This is where the Fighter Gel comes. You can use it all over your face or as a spot treatment. It is formulated with Aloe Vera Juice, Green Tea and Menthol to soothe any irritation.

Personally, I prefer to use it as a spot treatment. Lately I’ve been breaking out a lot and the Fighter gel has come in really handy in the mornings. This way, I’m not tempted to pick my pimples and it has less chances of scarring.

Banisher 2.0

How To Treat Acne Scars with BANISH

The star of the BANISH brand is their micro-needling tool called Banisher 2.0. It is a 24k Gold plated Titanium with anti-bacterial properties. To be honest, I was a bit sceptical about the effectiveness of micro-needling for acne scars until my Facebook group members began to suggest it.

For those that are not familiar with micro-needling, it is a medical procedure that is typically recommended by dermatologists and estheticians to treat skincare conditions such as acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks and rosacea. It is a process of using tiny sterile needles to puncture the skin and cause physical trauma. This in turn helps to increase collagen production which improves the appearance of acne scars.

If you’re worried about the safety of micro-needling at home, according to a 2018 systematic review, it is completely safe if done correctly. This is why I’m glad that Banish has included a step-by-step guide and how to microneedle at home safely.

How To Use The Banisher 2.0 At Home Safely

  • Sterilize the Banisher 2.0 with at least 70% Isopropyl alcohol for about five minutes. Make sure the bristles touch the alcohol.
  • When you’re done twist the cap open and let it air dry for two minutes.
  • Then press the Banisher about four to five times on each area of your face with the acne scars.
  • Afterwards, pat some Banish Oil on your skin immediately after using the Banisher,
  • Don’t forget to clean the Banisher and store it carefully. Use it every one-two weeks.

In Conclusion,

If you have acne scarring, you definitely need to check out BANISH. There aren’t that many brands on the market that specifically target acne scars. As with every skin condition, you need to be patient and give your products enough time to work to see results.
