This post will share how you can use Indeed to land a full-time remote job.

I recently got a job offer via Indeed after sending out roughly 30 job applications, which I consider a great feat because I always hear about how people have to apply for 100+ jobs before getting a role.

I like to think that I worked smarter and not necessarily harder for this job. So this post will be sharing some of my tips and tricks.

In case you’re not familiar, Indeed.com is a job aggregation site. They gather job listings from all over the internet and post them on their website. As a result of how profitable this business model is, there are a lot of other websites similar to Indeed.

More often than not, they all post similar jobs, so I just like to stick to one to reduce the chances of sending duplicate applications to the same company.

While Indeed is a pretty easy platform to use, there are certainly some ways you can go about it to ensure you’re not wasting your time.

You don’t want to spend months looking for a job when you could have just tweaked a few things. I spent about a month sending out job applications every other day, and I was able to get responses quickly from recruiters.

So, if you’re currently employed, unemployed or self-employed, and you’re also job hunting simultaneously, here is how to increase your chances of landing a role via Indeed.

As you can see, I’m specific about the role I’m looking for. I’m really not interested in resuming at any office, so I narrowed my options to strictly remote roles. Many companies are currently recruiting for remote roles, so you’re lucky.

Create a Tailored CV.

The first thing you need to do when job hunting is to create a CV. But that’s easy as every other person also job hunting has a CV as well. So, how do you stand out from the crowd? By creating a tailored CV. Your skills and experience should reflect exactly what the job description requests.

If you’re looking for a role in Customer Service, your experience in Finance is not relevant, except it is a customer-facing role that you can tie in. It goes without saying that you should ensure that your experience matches the job role.

If you’re changing careers or switching fields, highlight the most transferrable skills you have that will be most relevant in your new role.

Upload your CV to Indeed.

Indeed can help you create your CV, but that process is lengthy. Instead, I build my CV separately and upload it to Indeed. The platform will translate it however they find most beneficial. If you decide you create your CV from scratch using their in-built CV creator, that’s also fine. Just make sure your details are correct.

Filter Jobs down to Remote only or Homebased.

Before applying for a job, you must ensure that your filters are correct. You can skip this step if you’re not particular about finding a full-time remote job. But if you are, you need to filter out jobs that require you to be in an office and temporarily remote jobs.

You also need to filter out Hybrid working jobs if you don’t want to juggle working from home and an office. With these filters, you’re narrowing your choices to the exact ones that match your ideal roles.

Here’s How To Gain Work Experience For Jobs in Digital Marketing

Apply on Sundays to get quick responses.

One of the job-hunting tricks I’ve learnt is to apply for jobs on Sundays. Recruiters hardly work on weekends, so you have enough time to ensure that your application is at the top of the pile.

You don’t want to be the 100th applicant; the recruiter is already done by 75. By applying on Sundays, you increase your chances of the recruiter getting back to you before the end of the week.

Apply for the most recently posted jobs.

If you start to feel edgy and restless and can’t wait till Sunday, you can apply every day or every other day. just ensure that the jobs are the most newly posted. You want to apply for jobs posted in the last 24 hours – 3 days.

Once a job listing starts to get old, the chances of the recruiter getting back to you might be quite low. So, pick fresh jobs. There’s absolutely no crime in being the 1st – 5th applicant.

Read between the lines of the Job Descriptions.

Recruiters can be very sneaky with the job title and description contradicting each other. So, ensure you’re reading between the lines of the job description. Obviously, there are certain things that you might overlook and notice later on.

Still, you don’t want to find yourself in a tricky position where you must turn down an interview or job offer because of a certain condition you overlooked. The most popular contradiction I’ve seen is the location of the job. Some say fully remote in the title and hybrid working in the description. Read the fine print carefully.

Ensure your contact details are correct.

Don’t just expect a recruiter to simply email you. Sometimes, calling is a faster way to reach you. In some companies, phone calls are the first stage of the recruitment process.

So make sure your contact details are available at all times. Return missed phone calls as soon as possible and reply to emails quickly. You don’t want to give the recruiters the impression that you’re an unserious candidate.

Don’t limit your choices to one location.

The beauty of remote work is that you can work from anywhere worldwide. Don’t limit yourself unless you want a hybrid role or a company that wants you to live in the same city.

Open up your application country-wide. You never know; you might be lucky to land a great job outside your city with no strings attached.
