Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion (Beginner’s Guide)

*This post may contain affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission, at no cost to you, if you make a purchase through a link! This supports me and keeps my blog running.*

This post will be teaching you a beginner’s guide to the Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion.

I can’t be the only one who is always confused by all the Hada Labo lotions available.

The first time I stumbled on this brand was at one of the skincare Facebook groups that I joined.

I think I had just discovered Korean Skincare when I accidentally discovered Japanese skincare.

Trust me, I was hooked! That kickstarted my adventure with the Hada Labo lotions.

When I was ready to try one of them, I was so confused by the over eight lotions that were available.

Eventually, I settled for the most popular one; the Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion.

Oh, my days!

It is literally the most hydrating product I’ve ever used.

Ever since then, I’ve been circling around both Korean and Japanese skincare.

I’m literally obsessed with the lotions.

Plus, it doesn’t even help that they’re so cheap when you buy directly from either Korea or Japan.

At the beginning of the Summer, I switched to the Gokujyun Light lotion, which worked well with its watery consistency.

But now that fall/autumn is approaching, I’m looking to switch to the Gokujyun Moist lotion.

I usually reserve the Premium Lotion for the winter.

The Different Hada Labo Lotions available

For those who are new to Japanese skincare, Hada Labo is a Japanese drugstore brand, just like Cerave and Neutrogena, under the umbrella of its parent company, Rohto.

That is why all their products are reasonably priced.

They usually retail from about £9 – £18, depending on where you buy them.

Hada Labo was introduced in 2014 with a minimalist approach to product formulation.

They currently have three product lines;

  • The Hada Labo Gokujyun Line uses Super Hyaluronic Acid to deliver intense hydration.
  • The Hada Labo Shirojyun Line uses additional Vitamin C to brighten dull complexions.
  • The Hada Labo Gokujyun Alpha line is simply an upgraded version of the original Gokujyun line with additional Vitamin A, collagen and peptides.

For the sake of this post and based on why I have used it, we’re going to focus on the original bestselling Gokujyun line.

How to Differentiate between the Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotions

In Japan, lotions are used interchangeably with toners.

So, anytime a product is described as a lotion, just know that it is a toner.

Now, depending on its consistency, the lotion can be further divided into premium lotion, moist lotion, light lotion, and milky lotion/emulsion.

The thickest is the premium lotion, and the lightest is the light lotion, which is literally just water.

The milky lotion or emulsion is a super lightweight cream moisturizer that can be used alone or as an extra layer.

Now that we understand which is which, let’s dive into the Gokujyun lotions.

Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion

Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion (Beginner’s Guide)

Yass! This Hada Labo bestseller is formulated with seven different types of Hyaluronic Acid.

It has a thick viscosity which layers very well. You literally do not need to layer any more product with it.

It is an amazing toner/essence hybrid which should be a staple in your winter routine.

If you want that glowy/dewy look without too much effort, you should definitely get a bottle or two.

For someone with dry/dehydrated skin, this product is one of my holy grails.

Just like the rest of the line, the Hada Labo Premium Lotion also has a milky/emulsion version.

I haven’t tried it yet, so I can’t tell you how good it is, but I’m assuming it’s gonna be as hydrating as the lotion.

Hada Labo Gokujyun Super Hyaluronic Acid Moist Lotion

This is also another bestseller which I’m looking forward to trying this fall.

It has four types of hyaluronic acid, which makes it very hydrating as well.

To be honest, any product with more than one staple Hyaluronic Acid is definitely gonna be extra hydrating, so prepare to be amazed!

Just like the rest of the Hada Labo products, it has a clean ingredient list with no fragrance, mineral oil or anything drying like alcohol.

Hada Labo Gokujyun Super Hyaluronic Acid Light Lotion

Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion (Beginner’s Guide)

This product has been a lifesaver all through this Summer.

( Check out my Summer Skincare Routine if you haven’t)

I’m currently halfway through the bottle, and I’ll be using it until my moist lotion arrives.

Then I’ll switch and save the rest for Spring.

Unlike the other lotions, it has a watery consistency that just sinks right into my skin.

Sometimes, I get carried away and just apply multiple layers until I am satisfied.

I think that explains why I’ve almost exhausted it.

It’s such an amazing product that is perfect for the warm weather.

If you’re not a fan of thick lotions or essences, you should definitely try this product.

During one of my StyleVana hauls, I decided to try out the Hada Labo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Milky Lotion.

It’s a nice addition to the light lotion, but I’m honestly not a fan.

I prefer to use a proper moisturizer for my routine.

But the product definitely works for an AM routine that will still require sunscreen.

I’m gonna use more of it and put up a comparison post soon.

Hada Labo Gokujyun Alpha Lotion

If you’re obsessed with this brand like me and want to try products other than the bestsellers, then you should definitely look out for this product.

Aside from the Hyaluronic Acid, it is packed with even more collagen and peptides.

I’ll definitely be trying this soon and will write a review afterwards.

Just like the rest of the products in the line, it comes in two versions; the moist and the light. So, look out for the difference when making a purchase.

In Conclusion,

I don’t know about you, but the Hada Labo products have been a game-changer for my dry/dehydrated skin. As I use more products,

I’ll be reviewing and comparing them for you, so make sure you’re subscribed to this blog so you don’t miss out.

Have you tried the Hada Labo Gokuyjun lotions before?

Which is your favourite?
