I’m From Honey Serum – Review

*This post may contain affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission, at no cost to you, if you make a purchase through a link! This supports me and keeps my blog running.*

This post will review the I’m From Honey Serum.

When the I’m From brand shook the Korean Skincare industry a couple of years ago, I was also one of the people instantly curious about their products. Naturally, I immediately added a few products to my wishlist.

But for some reason, their prices were mid-range when they launched. Simply put, the products were priced higher than a typical average product. As always, I had to settle for samples to see if I liked the product and if they were worth splurging on.

The times I was able to get full-sized products, I bought them on sale on iHerb with a 20% discount.

So far, I’ve used the following products from the I’m From range:

  • Ginseng Serum
  • Mugwort Essence
  • Mugwort Mask
  • Fig Boosting Essence
  • Rice Toner
  • Honey Mask and now the
  • Honey Serum.

My favourite product is the Fig Boosting Essence, followed by the Honey Serum, and my least favourite is the Rice Toner.

As you can tell, one of the ways I’m From stands out from other Korean Skincare brands is because they use a very high percentage of quality natural/plant extracts to formulate their products.

Whether it is Honey, Mugwort, Rice, Ginseng, Pear or Beetroot, when other brands settle for 5 – 10% plant extracts, I’m From goes all the way out with 30%+.

This is why it is crucial to do adequate research before purchasing. If it doesn’t work for you, there is no point in splurging on such a mid-range product.

I’m halfway through the I’m From Honey Serum and have some thoughts.

First Impressions of The I’m From Honey Serum

According to Wishtrend:

This serum contains 30.63% of Honey Glow Queen (Honey Complex), which is our unique mixture of 7 active ingredients: honey, black bee propolis, royal jelly, bee venom, turmeric, bee pollen, and cinnamon. The honey complex made with everything honey provides rich moisture to your distressed skin. With the nutritious serum, you can improve elasticity and fine lines, and can also expect a brightening effect. The honey-like gooey texture will adhere to your skin perfectly, enables you to have a glow on your face with smooth and glossy skin.

Ingredient List & Fragrance

When I picked this serum, the first thing that came to my mind was how handy it would be during winter. I love to reserve the most hydrating and nourishing products for the colder months because my dry, dehydrated skin craves them.

Coincidentally, I also started Tretinoin this winter, so I needed all the nourishment I could get from my products to prevent flakiness and peeling. Fortunately for me, this product came through.

I’m generally a huge fan of honey-based products. They are good at giving your skin the necessary pick-me-up when it is out of sorts.

When I saw that this serum had been formulated with 30.63% Honey Complex, I immediately jumped at it, especially since I have tried the Honey Mask and absolutely love it.

The 30.63% Honey Complex comprises seven ingredients, including:

  • Honey
  • Black Bee Propolis
  • Royal Jelly
  • Bee Venom
  • Turmeric
  • Bee Pollen
  • Cinnamon

Other ingredients include:

  • Niacinamide
  • Adenosine
  • Centella Asiatica
  • Ascorbic Acid
  • Madecassoside

As usual, it’s a great combination of nourishing and soothing ingredients to restore a damaged skin barrier.

Fragrance

While there’s an official fragrance in the ingredient list, it might as well not be there because it is barely noticeable.

Naturally, the product has a distinct honey fragrance, but it is not overwhelming and dissipates immediately after application. Except if you’re allergic to honey-based products, this product suits anyone with sensitive skin.

Packaging, Texture & Consistency

This product is packaged in a 30ml pump bottle, a dream to dispense. You need about 1-2 pumps for your entire face. This prevents waste and ensures you use the exact amount you need.

Unlike regular water-based serums, this product has a lightweight gel texture which absorbs immediately into the skin on application. The formula works the same way if you have used gel creams before. The only difference is this is a serum and not a moisturizer, so it is very light.

While honey is technically a thick gooey gel, think about this serum as a polished and refined version without the stickiness.

Surprisingly, the product is non-greasy and absorbs immediately into the skin. The finish you get depends on what you layer it with. I get a dewy finish when I layer it with other hydrating products. But if you use it alone, you’ll get a natural finish.

Price & Avaliability

This 30ml serum retails for $28, which is not too bad, given the quality of the product. But if you don’t want to pay that price, you can always get it on sale for about $20 – 22 throughout the year.

Review of The I’m From Honey Serum

I'm From Honey Serum - Review

As I mentioned earlier, I started using Tretinoin in November, just before winter began, and this serum came in handy. Anyone that uses any kind of Retinoid regularly knows your skin is more prone to dryness and flakiness. To prevent this, you need to layer as many hydrating products as your skin can take.

I currently layer Cezanne High Moist Toner and Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion under the I’m From Honey Serum daily. This combination leaves my skin hydrated and nourished.

Performance

Even though I layer this serum with other water-based products, you can tell the difference. After the toners absorb into my skin, the I’m From Honey serum acts as a sealant to trap all that hydration in my skin.

Now, the serum on its own isn’t that hydrating. It is more moisturizing, so I recommend you layer water-based hydrating products under it to maximize its effectiveness.

A quick look at the ingredient list again shows Dimethicone, an emollient, at the third position, confirming that the serum forms a protective barrier on your skin.

It goes without saying that you can entirely skip your moisturizer in the mornings and go straight to your sunscreen.

In Conclusion

If you’re struggling with dry winter skin, a damaged skin barrier or the side effects of Retinoids, then you need to try the I’m From Honey Serum.

If you want to take it further, you can try the entire range in the I’m From Honey Set, including the Honey Mask and Honey Glow Cream.
