While we’re still on lockdown, there’s only so much we can do, but that shouldn’t stop you from making plans.

You literally have to discover your taste and work with it. After being on lockdown for about a year now, I feel like I now have certain priorities.
Whatever interior design project I’m taking up henceforth must tick certain boxes.
My decor must be minimalist, warm, cosy, spacious and, most importantly, must promote self-care.
I don’t want a cluttered home that would stress me out. Neither do I want a place where I can’t stay for an extended period of time without getting cranky or feeling antsy.
I want my home to serve me in such a way that I don’t crave other places.

I recently invested in wall art prints to make my workspace even more comfortable.
I realized I needed to surround myself with positive affirmations, especially since working from home can be lonely and challenging.
As someone with a lot of self-discipline, I didn’t exactly need the affirmations to inspire me.

After researching, I realized I was drawn towards quotes with specific fonts.
There’s something about simple and sometimes generic quotes in the most attractive fonts.
Plus, they’re affordable and currently work with my budget.

Quick story: I wasn’t particular about the number of cushions I owned before the first lockdown.
But after the first set of restrictions were lifted, I did not hesitate to get myself a bunch of new cushions.
While they primarily have decorative purposes, I found myself stacking them on my bed and actually using them. After all, my comfort is key.
Decorative cushions can literally transform your interior design. You just need to be particular about the ones you buy and not settle for bland ones.
Collect Decorative Vases
If you’re sleeping on decorative vases, you need to wake up.
Bland transparent vases are so 2008.
Whether they are ceramic, glass or plastic, decorative vases with unique designs can give your home that visual impact you’ve been looking for.
Don’t forget to spice those vases with some pampas grass.
But if you have a bunch of transparent boring vases and you’re not sure what to do with them, just head to your local supply store and get some spray paints.

I don’t know about you, but this lockdown has transformed my design taste.
Apart from stacking cushions and collecting wall art prints, I’ve also been buying a lot of candles.
In fact, it got so bad that I decided to make mine.
But then I realized that there was something else missing. I could definitely upgrade my decor with some stylish candle holders.
So, I did.

This is one thing I haven’t yet plunged myself into because I’m not sure I’m ready for the commitments.

The aesthetics alone is enough to upgrade your home without doing too much. Just get some cute plant hangers and place them in strategic places.
Viola! You have a new home!
If you’re not ready to take the plunge, you can also invest in some good quality fake plants. They always do the trick.
