This post will be sharing six tips for creating a productive morning routine.
Despite the stress of the pandemic, the past few months have been really productive for me. I’ve been able to achieve my daily goals back to back consistently. As a master planner, there’s nothing as exhilarating as making plans and seeing them come to fruition. It automatically just pumps me to achieve even more. So today, I’ve decided to backtrack and share some of the things I do in the mornings to ensure that my day is productive.
Some people think that putting an effort into creating effective routines are overrated. I used to think so too. Until I unconsciously started a routine of sorts without exactly defining it. Then one day, I woke up and realized that my routine has become a habit. This way, I didn’t struggle and everything came to me easily.
So whether or not you define your routine, you have a routine already. You just need to optimize it to ensure that your productivity is maximized.

Here Are Six Things You Can Do To Ensure You Have A Productive Morning Routine
In no particular order;
Plan Your Day
Yes, you need to know what you want to achieve in a day. That is the foundation of a productive day. Luckily for you, it can just be one single goal. It doesn’t have to be a grandiose to-do list like the productivity experts advise. I’ve found that streamlining my to-do list down to one or two items helps me hyper-focus on them. They become the only thing on my mind until the task required has been completed. So, the formula is to pick a single core goal you want to achieve that will take up most of your day and sprinkle it with small less brain-tasking goals.
Doing this over the last few months has helped me cover a good chunk of my work consistently.
Here are 5 Reasons Why You Should Get Up Early In The Morning
Workout
Listen, the people that preach the importance and benefits of working out in the morning before you start your day are NOT LYING. They’re definitely on to something. During the lockdowns which lasted for over a year here in the U.K, I struggled a lot with working out. This in turn affected my mental health and productivity. Yes, I tried to work out at home but I wasn’t motivated enough to continue since it wasn’t exactly challenging. But ever since I went back to the gym and prioritised working out three to four times a week, my productivity levels have gone all the way up. I’m pumped with endorphins which reduces my stress levels drastically and puts me in a positive mood. I simply have all the energy I need to conquer my to-do list for the day.
If you’re not prioritizing working out as regularly as possible, please do so. It may be that single change you need to improve your productivity.
Have A Decent Breakfast
Working out and eating healthy complement each other. If you’re anything like me and you immediately get headaches when you don’t eat, this will definitely affect your day. So, make sure you prioritize a decent breakfast daily. To step it up a notch, have a healthy breakfast. Healthy food generally makes you feel good and it may be the difference between having a productive day or not.
I’ve been having Granola, Greek Yogurt & Strawberries as a staple breakfast this Summer and it has been the perfect meal for me. Working while being fed really helps with my concentration for extended periods of time.
Invest in Good Furniture
If your furniture is not comfortable enough, it will affect your productivity. It’s a no-brainer. You need to ensure you get a good chair and desk that improves your posture. You don’t want to be slouching or bending in an uncomfortable way. Always having to adjust your furniture leads to unnecessary interruptions which will definitely affect productivity. If you’re not sure what you need, just settle for modern office furniture. This way, you can get the right Ergonomic chairs and height-adjustable desks.
Your furniture might be affecting your productivity. Look into it!

Priotize a Great Ambience
Okay, so this has been a game-changer for me. I live in the North of England where the weather is always gloomy and the best thing I’ve done to combat the weather affecting my mood – asides from working out – is investing in great scented candles. Listen, they’re everything! Candles are a cheap and effective way to improve my mood regardless of the weather. Surprisingly, they also help with my productivity because they just effortlessly set the ambience of my workspace.
The result is a calm relaxed environment where I can work with no interruptions.
Keep Your Workspace Organized
Seemingly little things like having a cluttered workspace are one of the things that can prevent you from having a productive morning routine. The first thing I do before working is to ensure that my desk is well organized and my work supplies are easy to reach. This way, I’m not exerting my energy on activities that interrupt me and eat into my time. As you can already tell, I hate having unnecessary interruptions. As someone who is constantly writing, it simply disrupts my flow and is sometimes hard to return to.
Get desk organizers to keep your workspace tidy and clutter-free.
In Conclusion,
Having a productive morning routine is not exactly rocket science. It’s really just about taking intentional steps to achieve your daily goals. The central goal is for your routines to become a habit that comes easy to you without any extra effort.
