This post will be reviewing the Soon Jung Whip Cleanser.
I recently got back into foaming cleansers after staying away from them. As someone with dry, dehydrated skin, I’m always wary about cleansers that strip my skin instead of hydrating it. So, as a rule of thumb, I generally settle for gel cleansers and avoid foaming cleansers. That was until I saw the light. You see, gel cleansers are excellent for morning cleansing. But when you need to remove leftover sunscreen or makeup, you need a proper foaming cleanser. One of the mistakes you can make for your skin is not cleansing properly. Over time, leftover impurities will block your pores and cause breakouts if you don’t cleanse properly.
I used the Hada Labo Gokujyun Foaming Wash as my foaming cleanser during the winter, and it was a glorious experience. When I was done with my first bottle – which I have now replaced – I went hunting for a new foaming cleanser that would give me a similar experience.
Soon Jung is a line under Etude House, a Korean brand established in 1985. Read up on their history. The Soon Jung line is quite popular among people with sensitive skin because of its no-frills approach to skincare with a minimal ingredient list. This reduces any chances of irritations whatsoever. Think about it as a clean beauty line.
I’m almost done with this bottle, and I’m excited to share my thoughts.

First Impressions of the Soon Jung Whip Cleanser
According to Soon Jung:
Whipped cream-textured cleanser with weakly acidic bubbles for moisturizing facial cleansing.
Trust Korean brands to go straight to the point!
Ingredient List
As I mentioned earlier, this cleanser has minimal ingredients because the sole purpose is to soothe irritated skin whilst also cleansing it. This is why it is formulated with soothing ingredients like:
- Madecassoside
- Green Tea Extract
- Glycerin
- Panthenol
Every single time I’ve used this cleanser when my skin was mildly irritated, it always calms down afterwards.

Packaging, Texture & Consistency
As a whip cleanser, this product has a fascinating texture. At first, I wasn’t sure what a whip cleanser what until I opened it and used it for the first time. Let me tell you, it is everything and then some. It is literally just a massive lather that is soft and calming at the same time. Thankfully, it is packaged in such an excellent pump bottle that one to two pumps of lather is all you need for your entire face. Yes, I’m intentionally not using foam here because it is fluffier than foam. Instead of the typical bubbles, you get from foaming cleansers, you get a fluffy lather with this one similar to mousse or whipped cream. Every time I use it, the experience feels so good, especially when I’m used to basic drugstore cleansers. So, if you want to upgrade your cleansing experience, I suggest you try this cleanser.
Price & Availability
The 150ml pump bottle retails for about $13, and I’ve been using it daily for over three months now. I would definitely say it’s a good bang for your buck. As a Korean product, you’ll mostly find it online via Asian retailers.
Review of the Soon Jung Whip Cleanser
I typically use this cleanser at night as my second cleanse. For my first cleanse, I use Micellar Water or Cleansing oil to take sunscreen and/or slight makeup depending on what I wear. Once I’m done with that, I just focus on using this whip cleanser for about 60 seconds to get rid of all leftover impurities. I never worry about my skin not being cleansed well because it does the job adequately.

Performance
It is important to bear in mind that this is not a hydrating cleanser. While it will not strip or dry out your skin, it won’t particularly hydrate it either. It would just keep your skin nice, clean and ready to absorb the rest of your hydrating products. With all the soothing ingredients, this is particularly great if you have a damaged skin barrier and your skin is very sensitive.
All in all, it is a great cleanser to use daily as there’s little to no chance of it doing any more than cleanse and soothe your skin.
Finally
Unlike its popular counterpart; the Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream, the Soon Jung Whip Cleanser is a lot more underrated and I hope people discover its awesomeness very soon.
