Summer blockbuster season is here, and everyone is looking forward to seeing the year’s biggest movies on the big screen. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has dominated the box office for the last decade. Movie series like Thor, Iron Man, and Spider-Man have massive production budgets, and those translate to quite impressive paychecks for their leading men: Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, and Tom Holland, respectively.
With fat bank accounts comes increased spending power for the finer things in life. This, of course, includes enviable timepiece collections for these three gents. Let’s tour the superpowered watch arsenals of your favourite superheroes.
Chris Hemsworth
The chiselled and charming Australian star Chris Hemsworth has a mighty collection of watches fitting his Thor character. It’s worth noting that Chris Hemsworth is a TAG Heuer brand ambassador, so he’s often seen sporting the brand’s greatest hits on his wrist. These include watches steeped in racing history like the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1887, the futuristic and skeletonized TAG, Heuer Carrera Caliber Heuer 01, and the brand’s most recognizable watch, the square chronograph TAG Heuer Monaco famously worn by actor Steve McQueen decades before.
Of course, these are not the only watches the hunky star wears. He’s also been seen with an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, the IWC IW377704 pilot chronograph, and his most luxurious piece, a yellow gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph 26320BA.
Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr. (perhaps better known as Iron Man) is admittedly not a big watch enthusiast. Still, that hasn’t stopped him from amassing an impressive collection throughout his career. One such watch is the Rolex Submariner “Hulk” ref. 116610LV. The watch features a dial and bezel in Rolex’s signature green hue, and its value on the secondary market has risen considerably since getting discontinued in late 2019. He also owns a more humble Bell & Ross titanium chronograph with the brand’s characteristic square
shape and bold dial design. Robert Downey Jr. originally gifted the watch to fellow Tropic Thunder co-star Ben Stiller when they wrapped filming for the project, but Stiller actually gave the watch back to
Downey Jr. said the case was too large for him to wear. Finally, and best of all, Downey Jr.’s wife gifted him a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712. The luxury steel sports watch with an integrated bracelet and various complications has been one of the most in-demand pieces in the world for years and now carries a six-figure price tag on the secondary market.
Tom Holland
Let’s round out our trio with Spider-Man star Tom Holland. The youngest actor on our list has the most impressive watch collection of the three. Mr Holland appears to be a big fan of Rolex and Patek Philippe.
While Robert Downey Jr. sports the highly-coveted Nautilus, Tom Holland has two of Patek Philippe’s other most popular watches. Featuring the warm tones of a rose gold case, and the chocolate dial is his Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167R. He also has a Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5168G with a white gold case and soothing blue dial for something on the cooler side. He was also spotted at the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home with a highly-complicated and elegant Patek Philippe 5940R perpetual calendar.
Let’s not forget about his Rolex collection, of course. We have classic hits like the racing-ready Rolex Daytona 116500LN and the green bezel Rolex Submariner “Starbucks” 126610LV. And because Tom loves multiples, he also has all three variations of the famed GMT, including the Rolex GMT-Master II “Pepsi” 126710BLRO, the Rolex GMT-Master II “Batman” 126710BLNR, and the two-tone Rolex GMT-Master II “Root Beer” 126711CHNR.
Usually, we would be envious to the point of anger after seeing such an expansive and impressive collection. Still, it’s hard to be mad at such a friendly, talented, and tasteful young actor.
