This post will review the HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner.
Despite using this product for over a year now, I have finally gotten around to reviewing it.
The first time I was introduced to this brand was through the HaruHaru Wonder Black Bamboo Mist.
Toner mists are a staple in my morning routine, so I went through about two bottles.
Because I liked it so much, I decided to try a sample-size toner from the brand.
Sample sizes are excellent to test out what your skin likes before committing.
When I finished using the mini toner, HaruHaru Wonder reached out to me to gift me some of their bestselling products from the Black Rice line, including the toner for sensitive skin.

I was ecstatic to try the full size and the rest of the line, as I love the sample size.
HaruHaru Wonder has exploded as a brand in the last couple of years.
Their Black Rice toner became a best seller so much that they had to release an unscented version without essential oil for sensitive skin.
That’s very admirable for a brand.
Anyway, I’ve used it for a bit now, and this review is definitely way overdue.
First Impressions of the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner

Ingredient List & Fragrance
Similar to the typical Korean hydrating toner, this is a Hyaluronic acid-based toner with plant extracts.
Some of these include;
- 2% 100% Korean-produced Black Rice extracts
- 2% Phyllostachys Pubescens Shoot Bark Extract
- Panax Ginseng Root Extract
- Skullcap Root Extract
- Beta Glucan
Over the years, I’ve tried to manage my expectations with Korean toners because they basically all do the same thing: boost hydration and restore elasticity.
Scented vs Unscented versions
I’m not sure what happened, but when I was sent the toner, I noticed that it was the one for Sensitive skin, which I’ve never seen before.
On further research, I realised that they removed Alcohol, Lavender essential oil and some other cheap fragrances from it.
This is brilliant, especially for people with sensitive skin.
To be fair, I didn’t really notice the difference between the two since I don’t really have sensitive skin that is easily sensitised.
So, when purchasing one for yourself, bear in mind that there are two versions.
Packaging, Texture & Consistency
This toner comes in two sizes; 150ml and 300ml.
You can also get a 30ml sample size to try out via Asian retailers like Stylevana.
It’s packaged in a nice branded toner bottle which makes it super easy to dispense.
Honestly, this is by far the most convenient packaging for toners, aside from the pumps for jumbo sizes.
The toner has a slightly viscous consistency, which the brand actually calls an essence-type toner.
This means that is not watery or fluid like some others.
Instead, it has a slightly thicker texture, which provides deep hydration.
It is also not too thick as it is excellent for layering.
I typically use about 1-2 layers until I’m satisfied with my hydration levels.
Price & Availability
As far as the pricing of toners goes, this product is affordable.
I have yet to notice a jump in the pricing of Korean skincare products in general.
As long as you shop around various retailers, you’ll get good pricing.
I have built my points with Stylevana over the years, so my products always come out cheaper.
On IHerb, I wait until there’s a 20% discount before purchasing anything, which makes it cheaper.
Review of the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner
I use this toner as the first step in my morning and/or evening skincare routine.
I typically use about two layers before applying my essence, treatment, and moisturizer.
Yes, there’s no such thing as too much hydration.
If I’m using it as a sole hydrating product, I go in with a few extra layers.
But if I’m layering other products, I just use one or two layers.
Performance
What can I say?
I love it!
What’s not to like?
It makes my skin hydrated, plump and supple.
The potential irritants have been removed from the unscented version, so there’s little to no chance of irritation or sensitivities, except if you have a damaged skin barrier.
It’s affordable and accessible, and the bottle lasts a while.
It’s not sticky, nor does it pile under other products.
Again, what can I say?
It’s great!
Even though I gravitate towards more nourishing toners with Propolis, this is a toner I can see myself buying over and over.
