This post will review the Amlactin Rapid Relief Restoring Lotion.
As some who struggles with Keratosis Pilaris, aka chicken skin, I’ve had this moisturizer on my wishlist for the longest time. For some reason, I’ve been unable to get my hand on it. This is because it is not readily available here in the UK. Wherever you eventually find it, it is usually overpriced, so I just left it on my wishlist.
But during the last Black Friday, IHerb had great offers, and I used this opportunity to finally get my hands on my most wished moisturizer. Best believe I was over the moon and used it immediately after it arrived.
If you know anything about the skincare industry, you’ll notice how it massively underserves body care. Despite all the progress and advancements we have made in the last couple of years for facial skincare, body care still feels left behind. They aren’t options catering to different budgets. As such, we are stuck to whatever is available regardless of price.
Getting my hands on this product is a huge deal for me because Amlactic has some of the best products for body care. If you’re struggling with any kind of textural irregularities and you have tried using different facial products for your body, this one is for you.
I definitely had a phase where I had no choice but to use facial products on my body. But I’m glad that has all changed.
So, I’ve been using this moisturizer for about a month now, and I thought I should share my thoughts since I’ve already seen some improvements.

Ingredient List & Fragrance
Amlactic is an American brand that formulates body care products primarily with Lactic Acid. Lactic Acid is a great Alpha Hydroxy Acid(AHA) for smoothening the skin’s texture. Compared to other AHAs, Lactic Acid also serves as a humectant that draws in moisture from the atmosphere, making it very hydrating.
In a nutshell, it helps smoothens, hydrate and brighten the skin.
With most facial skincare products, you’ll find that the highest percentage mostly used to prevent irritation is 10%. I don’t think I’ve seen Lactic Acid products above 10%.
But Amlactic understands that body care requires a higher percentage to be much more effective due to how tough the skin on our bodies is.
I’m glad they went up from 10% to 15%. They also have a 12% Lactic Acid product, Amlactic Daily Moisturizing Lotion. But when it comes to body care, the higher the percentage, the faster the result hence why I went with the Rapid Relief Restoring Lotion.
Other Ingredients
Apart from the primary ingredient being 15% Lactic Acid, other ingredients that make this moisturizer so good include:
- Glycerin
- Mineral Oil
- Petrolatum
- Vitamin E
- Three Essential Ceramides
- Cholesterol and
- Phytosphingosine
Does this ingredient list look familiar to you? It absolutely should. Think of this Amlactic moisturizer as an upgrade to Cerave SA Smoothing Cream. It’s been spiced up with more Lactic Acid, Mineral Oil and Petrolatum.
What’s not to love?! If you love Cerave moisturizers, you’ll like this one as well.
While this product is alcohol, essential oil and fragrance-free, it definitely has a distinct scent which dissipates after a while.
Packaging, Texture & Consistency
I got this moisturizer to layer under my primary moisturizer, which is the Eucerin 10% Urea Cream. Imagine my surprise when I realized that the Amlactic Rapid Relief was sufficient for my dry winter skin. I didn’t remember that it has Mineral Oil and Petrolatum, which are excellent occlusives for the winter.
Best believe I haven’t touched my Eucerin Urea moisturizer since I started using Amlactin.
The product is packaged in a 400g pump bottle, which requires a bit of fiddling to get the pump to work. After which, it works perfectly fine.
The pump dispenses a creamy product much richer than your typical body lotion. It’s not lightweight or watery; hence I would classify it more as moisturizing than a hydrating product.
Despite the two occlusives, which tend to have a greasy finish, this moisturizer is non-greasy but doesn’t have a matte finish. It leaves a nice shine which leaves your skin looking healthy.
Price & Availability
This 400g size retails for $34, but you can get a smaller 225g for $14, which is not too bad. If it is easily accessible, you can get the 225g size, but if it is not, I highly suggest you get the 400g that will last for a few months.
Review Of The Amlactin Rapid Relief Restoring Lotion
As I mentioned earlier, I started using this moisturizer immediately after it arrived because it has been on my wishlist for a few years.
I typically use it from head to toe after showering, and as a result of its rich texture, it is moisturizing enough for the winter and keeps ashy skin at bay. As someone with dry, dehydrated skin, this is such a big deal.
Over the years, I’ve had to layer my body care products for the winter because there simply wasn’t any single product that worked alone for me.
But my skin has never looked better with the Amlactin Rapid Relief Restoring Lotion, which exfoliates and moisturizes simultaneously. It gradually exfoliates all the dead skin cells on my body to reveal less textured skin.
Obviously, this is not a magic overnight product. Think about it as a work in progress which requires consistency. Your skin will definitely improve if you use it daily consistently.
In Summary
I cannot recommend this moisturizer enough if you have dry or dehydrated skin prone to flakiness or struggle with textural irregularities.
