6 Best Body Lotions for Winter

*This post may contain affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission, at no cost to you, if you make a purchase through a link! This supports me and keeps my blog running.*

This post will share six of the best body lotions you can use for winter.

There’s no way I could have prepared myself for the extreme dryness and ashiness that I got on my first winter in England.

My skin was so ashy, so much that I could peel it.

Bear in mind that my skin is naturally dry and dehydrated.

The winter just took it up a notch.

The first thing I did was to rush to Boots to get a hydrating body lotion.

I got the Neutrogena Hydroboost Body Lotion because it had Hyaluronic Acid, but it did nothing for my skin.

The Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Cleanser, on the other hand, has become my staple facial cleanser.

The lotion did nothing for me, but I continued to use it until I ran out. This didn’t take too long because I used it generously.

Two years later, while I’m still struggling to get the best body lotion for my dry dehydrated skin, I’ve made a lot of progress.

I know the right kind of products to look out for and how to use them correctly.

If you still struggle with dry skin during the winter, whether your skin is naturally dry or not, then this post is for you.

To be honest, there are a lot of body lotions that claim to be targeted for dry to very dry skin.

However, in my experience, finding the best products for your skin type requires a lot of trial and error.

Unfortunately, there is no magic product for you until you look for it yourself.

While this post will share six recommendations, you still need to try a few that jump out at you to find your holy grail.

So, I’ve gone searching on Amazon to find the highest-reviewed and recommended body lotions for winter.

Here are 6 Best Body Lotions for Winter to fix your dry skin.

Lubriderm Advanced Therapy Moisturizing Lotion

This is a dermatologist-developed skincare brand that formulates body lotions strictly.

They are categorized into three types: daily moisture lotions, therapeutic lotions, and men’s lotions.

This particular one falls under the Therapeutic lotion, and it claims to intensely hydrate extra-dry skin.

It has glycerin and Panthenol as humectants, mineral oil, and a bunch of other emollients.

Nothing out of the ordinary, just a basic moisturizing body lotion.

A 6oz bottle costs about $9, which is not a bad deal if you ask me.

BUY ON AMAZON

Cerave Moisturizing Cream

Are you serious about skincare, if you don’t have at least one tub or jar of Cerave Moisturizing Cream in your stash?

With Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid as humectants, it has Cholesterol and petroleum as emollients, as well as three essential Ceramides to strengthen your skin’s barrier.

I like to have a tub of Cerave on hand, especially when I’m trying other products.

This way, if they disappoint, I have something to fall back on.

BUY ON AMAZON

Aveeno Skin Relief Intense Moisture Repair Cream

I’m particularly excited about this one because it is a fragrance-free formula with Ceramides and a Triple Oat Complex (oat flour, oat extract, and oat oil).

Oatmeal is amazing for soothing dry, itchy skin that usually comes with winter.

It also has Glycerin, Shea Butter and Petrolatum.

I cannot wait to personally try this and see how it performs this winter.

BUY ON AMAZON

Vanicream Moisturizing Cream

If you’re on TikTok, you would have noticed the rising popularity of Vanicream as a dupe of Cerave, especially among dermatologists.

This is a brand that is primarily targeted towards those with sensitive skin.

So, if your skin gets itchy or easily irritated by fragrances, parabens or any dyes found in skincare, Vanicream is for you.

It has a super clean ingredient list that won’t cause any irritation whatsoever.

BUY ON AMAZON

Eucerin Advanced Repair Cream

Eucerin has been in the business of formulating quality body care products for a long time.

Their products are typically targeted at repairing skin conditions, and dry skin is one of them.

This Advanced Repair Cream is formulated with so much good stuff.

From Urea, Lactic Acid, Shea Butter, Ceramides, Sodium PCA and Cholesterol.

You can tell that this particular product is for extra dry skin.

If your skin gets very ashy in the winter, you should give this product a shot!

BUY ON AMAZON

La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+ Intense Body Repair Cream

When it comes to body care, there aren’t as many options like facial care.

So, when I see products that make the extra effort to include ingredients in facial products, I’m usually impressed.

This moisturizer has Shea Butter, Niacinamide and the signature La Roche-Posay Prebiotic Thermal Water to provide long-lasting hydration.

If you’re looking for something different from the usual, you should give this a try.

How To Prevent And Care For Dry Skin in Winter

When it comes to body care, there is only so much body lotions can do.

If you have non-problematic blemish-free skin, you also have to work on your body care routine.

If you have dark spots on your body, check out my post on Body Skincare Routine for Hyperpigmentation.

Here are a few things you can do to increase the effectiveness of your body lotions this winter:

Exfoliate regularly.

A lot of us are walking around with smooth faces with bodies layered with dead skin cells.

You need to take body exfoliation as seriously as you take facial exfoliation.

If you’re not sure where to start, choose an exfoliating body lotion you can use interchangeably or buy The Ordinary’s 7% Glycolic Toning Solution and apply it a few times a week after taking a shower.

Here are a few exfoliating body lotions you should have in your routine:

  • Alpha Skin Care Renewal Body Lotion
  • Cerave SA Lotion for Rough & Bumpy Skin
  • Amlactin Daily Moisturizing Body Lotion
  • Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Weightless Body Treatment
  • Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Anti-Ageing Smoothing Lotion

You can either layer your exfoliating body lotion under your moisturizing body lotion or use them separately interchangeably.

Layer your Lotions with Body Oil/Gels

Just like your face, one way to prevent your skin from losing moisture is to layer your body lotion with an emollient.

This can be an oil, oil gel or natural butter.

These days, the Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Body Oil Gel has been saving my life.

I use it at the last step of my body care routine and literally say bye-bye to ashy skin!

It keeps my skin soft and moisturized all day! You have to try it!

Invest in a humidifier

One of the best things I’ve done for my skin this year is get a humidifier.

Particularly during this period when we are mostly working from home, I keep my humidifier in my room, and it ensures my skin doesn’t dry out all day.

By supplying moisture into my room or wherever I am in my house, I don’t have to worry about dry skin.

In fact, my face is soft and supple because I use the IUNIK Beta-Glucan Power Moisture Serum or any of the Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotions because they are loaded with humectants.

These humectants draw in moisture, which my humidifier supplies, as opposed to the dry winter weather.

This single practice keeps my skin moisturized all day!

In Conclusion,

I hope you found these six best body lotions for winter very useful.

I also hope that with these few tips, you won’t have to struggle with dry, ashy, itchy skin during winter again.
