Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream – Review

This post will be sharing a review of the Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream.

I’m constantly on the hunt for thick emollient moisturizers which can serve my dry dehydrated skin for the winter. I can typically use any kind of moisturizer, but I don’t compromise when it comes to the winter. In fact, the thicker/more emollient the moisturizer is, the better. So far, my current Korean Skincare discoveries are;

  • Cosrx Comfort Ceramide Cream
  • Pyunkang Yul Nutrition Cream and of course,
  • Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream

Dr Jart is one of the most popular Korean Skincare brands outside Korea. When Kbeauty initially became a global phenomenon, they were one of those brands that rose to popularity. But for some reason, I keep jumping past their products because I felt they have been formulated to primarily cater to the US market.

It goes without saying that the Ceramidin range is my first experience with the brand. So, I bought the travel kit like I sometimes do before investing in full sizes to just see what the hype is all about. I got the Ceramidin Liquid, Serum and Cream. Unfortunately, two of them didn’t do it for me but the cream blew me away. I think I bought it during the Spring and I found the cream simply too heavy to use. So, I decided to save it until the Autumn/Winter. I loved it so much that I immediately purchased the full size when I was done.

Now, I’m ready to share my experience.

Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream - Review

First Impressions of The Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream

According to Dr Jart;

Say goodbye to dry. This smooth, nourishing cream locks-in moisture to provide immediate deep moisturisation and comfort for dry, dull skin while strengthening the skin’s moisture barrier. Skin feels supple, smooth and super moisturised right away.

Specially formulated with Dr.Jart+’s Ceramidin Complex™ a proprietary derma fusion of ceramides, that helps strengthen skin’s moisture barrier to defend against moisture loss.

Ingredient List & Fragrance

From the name of the product, you can tell that it is packed with four essential Ceramides which particularly help in restoring the skin’s natural barrier;

  • Ceramide AP, AS, NS and EOP.

That’s not all. it is also packed with antoixidants like;

  • Beetroot, Tumeric Root Extract, Oat Extract and more.

Other hydrating and moisturizing ingredients that support the Ceramides include;

  • Cholesterol
  • Sodium Hyaluronate
  • Hyaluronic Acid
  • Beta Glucan
  • Panthenol
  • Shea Butter
  • Probiotics and
  • Peptides.

Unfortunately, as perfect as this moisturizer is, it is also formulated with a bunch of essential oils which might not be suitable for those that are sensitive. If you’re also prone to fungal-acne, the fermented extracts might also irritate your skin. So, it is up to you to decide if this product is worth the risk. You can always just get the travel size to try out. The side effect of the essential oils is a subtle fragrance which is not overbearing but dissipates quickly.

Packaging, Texture & Consistency

It is packaged in a squeeze tube which makes it so convenient to dispense. But the most interesting thing about this product is the its texture. At first glance, it comes across as a lightweight moisturizer. But it is not until you apply it that you realize how heavy it is. You can immediately feel a film over your face just as you would when using an occlusive. Which is good because if your skin barrier is damaged or you’re struggling with dry winter skin, this is the kind of product you need to restore your skin. It was after the first application that I realized how quite emollient it is which makes it perfect for the colder months.

Avaliability

As an international brand, you can get this product from most retailers. It comes in two sizes; 50ml and 15ml. You can try out the travel size before investing the full size. As a result of being a Korean brand, the price tends to be over-inflated. So, you’re sure to get the best deal from Asian retailers because it can get expensive.

Review of the Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream

So, I completely finish the 15ml size which lasted quite a bit because a little actually goes a long way before purchasing the full size. I typically used it in my PM routine at the last step just before my occlusive. During the Autumn, I sometimes skip the occlusive and just use this moisturizer over my layers of hydrating toners, essences and treatments.

Perfomance

My dry dehydrated skin absolutely loves this product. I love how it doesn’t completely absorb into the skin but forms a protective film which prevents my skin from transepidermal water loss(TEWL) or dehydration. While the essential oils and subtle fragrance might bother some people, it doesn’t bother me at all. It is quite possibly one of the best moisturizers in the market. It’s no wonder it is a best-seller.

While it completely absorbs into my skin by morning, my skin doesn’t feel dehydrated. It just feels healthy which is the entire point of the product. Yes, this is absolutely worth the hype and then some.

I recently also got the Ceramidin Cream Mist and my skin has been loving all the hydration. It’s a creamy toner mist which is more nourishing than your typical watery toners. When you pair them together, your skin barrier is even more reinforced.

Finally,

I’ve honestly enjoyed using Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream so much that I was estatic when I discovered that there’s also a body line for this range. Of course, I’ll be getting the Ceramindin Body Wash, Body Butter and Body Scrub,
