This post will be reviewing the Missha Essence Sun Milk SPF 50+ PA+++
I’m so excited about this review because this was my very first sunscreen that has become a staple in my skincare routine. For those that are new to the brand, Missha is one of the most popular Korean Skincare brands which is known for their bestselling Essences and Sunscreens. At the moment, they currently have about 10 different types of Sunscreens for different skin types. I don’t think I’ve seen any other brand that has this many sunscreens in their catalogue.
When I first got into the sunscreen business, I wanted something that was affordable and complimented my dry skin. Obviously, I was faced with a myriad of Korean options and I did not know where to start from. The first thing that drew me to the Missha Essence Sun Milk was the presence of the ‘milk’. I figured, if this was a milky product, it will definitely work for my dry skin.
So, let’s dive into the awesomeness that is this product.
First Impressions of The Missha Essence Sun Milk
According to Missha;
A double-layered UV protection system that is impenetrable even against water and sweat and will keep the skin comfortable all day long with flower extracts that soothe, nourish, and hydrate dry skin.
Recommended for dry skin.
Overview
Just as Missha has explained, this is a chemical sunsreen that blocks both UVA & UVB rays. It is an hydrating formula specifically formulated for people with dry skin. If you have any other skin type, it’s best to use the other products;
- Missha All-Round Safe Block Soft Finish Sun Milk SPF 50+ PA+++ ( for normal skin)
- Missha All-Round Safe Block Aqua Sun Gel SPF 45+ PA++++ ( for oily skin)
Watch out for my post where I’ll be talking about each Missha Sunscreens in detail.
Consistency & Texture
One of my favourite things about this sunscreen is the texture. It’s a lightweight milky formula that absorbs fast into my skin. I don’t have to spend minutes rubbing them just to get rid of the white cast. As this is a KOREAN chemical sunscreen, there is no white cast!
It rubs in smoothly and absorbs perfectly. It is definitely a pleasant sunscreen experience. I feel like even if you don’t have dry skin and you want to use a hydrating sunscreen, you will enjoy using this product.
Price
Just like most Korean sunscreens, this is super affordable at $13. When used with the two-finger sunscreen rule, the 70ml bottle can last up to a month.
Ingredient List
This sunscreen has a Green Tea and Aloe Vera which soothes and hydrates the skin. It also has indigenous Korean plants which act as antioxidants. The ingredient list looks pretty clean until you go further and notice the presence of Ethanol and Fragrance. Both ingredients can actually be counterintuitive by drying out the skin.
But after using this sunscreen for over three months, I didn’t find it drying or irritating at all. So, it really depends on you. If your skin is not really irritated by fragrance, I suggest you give this product a shot ESPECIALLY if you have dry skin! Trust me! It’s cheap so there is really nothing to lose, If you eventually don’t like it, you can use it for your body until it runs out.
If you’re more interested in the science stuff, this sunscreen uses five chemical filters such including Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Octocrylene, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine
Review of The Missha Essence Sun Milk
Once upon a time I never used to apply enough sunscreen. While I understood it’s importance, I just never paid too much attention to it. But these days, after hearing so much SPF talk on TikTok and Twitter, my sunscreen has become a priority. I’m enjoying exploring different types of sunscreens and how they work on my dry skin.
What I Do
I apply this in my AM routine. Depending on the season, I apply it with or without a moisturizer. During the Summer, I appy it alone and leaves me glowing all morning. But in the colder months, I apply it over my moisturizer or swap it out with a thicker sunscreen if I’m too lazy.
