I’m excited to share this review because this product has quickly become my new favourite.
For those unfamiliar with this blog, I have dry acne-prone skin that is easily prone to hyperpigmentation.
So, I try as much as possible to treat my acne and prevent it from pigmenting.
Sometimes, I’m successful; other times, not so much.
This is why, for the past year now, I’ve been using the Differin Gel for acne.
This Retinoid was perfect for my skin as it treated current breakouts overnight and prevented new ones from forming.
But then, using Differin Gel meant I couldn’t use any other Retinoid for anti-ageing.
I felt like I was stuck to it. I didn’t want that to continue, so I decided to find a replacement product that would get me the exact, if not similar, results as the Differin Gel.
I remembered that I had the Panoxyl Acne Foaming Wash on my wishlist.
I’ve used a Benzoyl Peroxide cleanser, the Acnecide Face Wash 5% w/w Gel, but I felt it didn’t do much for me at 5%.
So I was really excited to try 10% Benzoyl Peroxide from Panoxyl.
I’ve been using actives for a long time now, and my skin is perfectly able to cope with high percentages.
I’ve been using this cleanser for a few weeks now, and I’m excited to share how well it has worked for me.

Ingredient List & Fragrance
This product has a pretty simple ingredient list, with the primary ingredient being 10% Benzoyl Peroxide with Glycerin, preventing it from being a drying formula.
Retinoids are the gold standard for anti-ageing, and so is Benzoyl peroxide for treating acne.
It is an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial ingredient which kills the bacteria that cause acne.
So it attacks the problem at the roots compared to Salicylic Acid, which just cleans out your pores.
Like any gold standard ingredient like Tretinoin, Benzoyl Peroxide has some side effects.
The most common is that it is drying and can bleach your clothes.
So far, with this Panoxyl formula, I haven’t experienced either side effect.
But it is great to have the knowledge a the back of your mind to prevent surprises.
This formula is also essential oil and fragrance-free.
Packaging, Texture & Consistency
This product is packaged in a 156g tube, which is perfect as it dispenses just the right amount of product you’ll need.
However, if you squeeze the tube too much, you might squeeze out too much product, so be careful.
The product comes out with a creamy consistency, which lathers lightly.
I typically use it on dry skin before applying water and rising out ultimately.
I don’t believe the foam is firm, but it is just enough to sustain you while you massage it all over your face.
It probably would also be a drying product if it had a substantial lather, so I don’t mind.
Price & Availability
This cleanser retails as a drugstore product for under $10, a great deal!
It shows that you don’t need to spend much money trying to treat your acne with effective over-the-counter products.
Review of the Panoxyl Acne Foaming Wash
I was so excited to finally use this bestselling product that I immediately started using it daily.
Even though the brand says it is safe to use daily, don’t do it.
Depending on how sensitive your skin is, start very slowly.
Start from once to twice a week until you can use it every other day without irritation, which is what I do now.
So, I use it as my second cleanse after removing my sunscreen with La Roche Posay Micellar Water.
I dispense a pea-size onto my palm and massage it into my skin for about 1-2 minutes.
You need to give it time to work.
This is why I prefer to use it at night, as it gives me enough time to work it into my skin.
I also have back and chest acne, so I use my back scrubber to scrub my back with it and leave it on my chest for a while to do its job before rinsing it out.
Performance
The results I’ve gotten from this cleanser so far depend on the acne’s severity.
For instance, the cystic acne on my chest isn’t completely gone yet, but you can tell how much inflammation is reduced by touching it.
On the other hand, the fresh breakouts on my face disappear within a week of appearing.
More often than not, they don’t leave any pigmentation. In my book, this is a win.
Finally
I enjoy using the Panoxyl Acne Foaming Wash to treat my acne concerns from head to toe while the weather is still warm.
I might experience some dryness if I use it in the colder months.
Anyway, everything you have heard about this cleanser is true.
The hype is definitely deserved.
