This post will be reviewing the Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner.
When it comes to BHA or Salicylic Acid products, I hardly ever reach out for toners. With the exception of the Paula’s Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant, I typically use cleansers, This is because they’re easy to work into my routine. But then sometime last year, I found a great deal for this Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner and I honestly could not resist. Especially since it has been on my wishlist.
Benton is the original ‘Clean Beauty’ brand that originated in South Korea. Unlike the clean beauty brands we have here in the West, they don’t use essential oils in place of scientifically proven ingredients. Instead, they try to formulate their products with fewer irritating and harmful ingredients.
I’ve used quite a few Benton products in the past and I haven’t been disappointed. My favourites so far are the Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence and the Benton Fermentation Eye Cream.
Let’s get right into the review!
First Impressions of The Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner
According to YesStyle;
A moisturizing toner contains 0.5% BHA and Aloe Vera ingredients that hydrate and take care of skin concerns, while removing dead skin cells and blackheads.
Features Aloe Leaf Water that is infused with Hyaluronic Acid, BHA and Snail Filtrate for soothing acne and help enhance skin elasticity.
The watery texture enables the skin to absorb the moisture quickly and thoroughly without greasiness or stickiness.
The slightly acidic formula is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin.
In short, it’s a hydrating exfoliating toner for all skin types.
Ingredient List
My favourite thing about this product is the ingredient list. For someone like me with dry dehydrated skin. It is everything and then some for my skin.
- For exfoliation, it has 0.5% Salicylic Acid which is the highest concentration you can get for any Korean Skincare product.
- For hydration, it has 80% Aloe Leaf Water as its first ingredient. Followed by Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Beta Glucan, Polyglutamic Acid, Aloe Leaf Extract, Aloe Leaf Juice.
As you can see, it’s packed with hydrating ingredients which is a dream for anyone with dry acne prone skin. It is worth mentioning that it is alcohol, essential oil and fragrance free.
Texture & Consistency
It has a transparent non – sticky liquid texture with a slightly viscous consistency. It comes in a pump bottle which is super easy to dispense on my palm and apply on my face. While it can be tempting to use several pumps, I never really use more than two pumps. This is because it tends to foam up after application. Otherwise, one pump is all you need for a hydrated skin.
Avaliability & Price
For about $15/£13, you get a 200ml worth of product that will last for a few months. Also, Benton is a more accessible brand that is readily available. You can easily get at your favourite online retailer. I’ve been using it for months now and I’m not yet halfway through.
Review of the Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner
I have dry acne prone skin which means I breakout out regularly. I’m also prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation which I means I always try to get rid of my acne before they scar. In other to achieve this, I try to use a BHA product as part of my daily routine. I typically prefer to use BHA products between 0.5% and 1%. That way, I don’t damage my skin barrier since I use the products frequently.
In the light of this, Korean Skincare products are perfect for me as you never get a BHA product higher than 0.5%.
Performance
For context, I use the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Exfoliant which is the strongest BHA on the market. I also use the Cerave SA Smoothing Cleanser which is also around 0.5% – 1% BHA. So, in terms of effectiveness, I don’t expect that much from a product with 0.5% BHA.
Which is why I don’t use this product when I’m purging from Retinol or any other strong active. Instead, I use this daily when my skin is calm and not acting out. This way I’m able to prevent any new breakout from forming.
After using this product consistently for a while, I noticed that I don’t break out as much during the week. Did I also mention how hydrating this product is? It is INCREDIBLY hydrating that really eliminates the need for any other hydrating product especially during the Spring and Summer.
As a result of being a hydrating product, there’s no irritation whatsoever that sometimes comes with BHA products. The Aloe Vera and Beta Glucan helps soothe and buffer the skin preventing any form of irritation.
In Conclusion
Even if the Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner didn’t have BHA, I will still enjoy it as a hydrating toner. I don’t think I’ve seen any product that is as packed with as much Aloe Vera, Snail Mucin and Beta Glucan. So if you have dry acne prone skin that is particularly sensitive, you definitely need to try this product.
