This post will be reviewing the Cosrx Comfort Ceramide Cream.
If you’re familiar with this blog, you would know that at any point in time, the only brand that I use the most products in my skincare routine is COSRX. Most of their products work and are a staple in my routine. They might seem basic to some people, but sometimes, you need those basics to keep your skin barrier in check.
Over the last few years, COSRX has been branching out and exploring through their various ranges. While I’ll always be loyal to the original Snail Mucin line, I’m always open to testing other products, especially since I know my skin loves the brand.
I stumbled on this recent release on my hunt for an emollient winter moisturizer; the Cosrx Comfort Ceramide Moisturizer. Just like the Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream, I’m a sucker for any moisturizer with ceramides. They are excellent for preventing transepidermal water loss (TEWL). With my dry, dehydrated skin, I need to retain all the moisture I possibly can.
This product has been my nighttime moisturizer for over a month now and as always, let’s talk about it.
First Impressions of the Cosrx Comfort Ceramide Cream
According to COSRX,
Lightweight yet rich moisturizer for suffered skin by sensitivity.
Calm, soothe, and strengthen your skin without a cloggy oily feeling.
Ceramide NP strengthens the broken skin barrier and regenerates the sensitized, damaged skin so that your skin will feel comfortable and healthy from the inside to the surface.
Highly-effective, premium ingredients recover the balance between oil and moisture of your skin and improve skin elasticity.
Ingredient List & Fragrance
One of the reasons why this brand is popular and well-received globally is their simplistic approach to skincare. You’ll mostly find simple but effective ingredients without alcohol, essential oil or fragrance. This way, they are more inclusive, particularly for people with sensitive skin.
Let’s take a look at what this moisturizer is formulated with;
- Centella Asiatica Leaf Water
- Ceramide NP
- BeesWax
- Panthenol
- Niacinamide
- Sodium Hyaluronate
- Centella Asiatica family (Madecassic acid, Asiaticoside & Asiatic acid)
Simply no-frills moisturizer with calming and soothing ingredients.
Now, it is worth mentioning that this moisturizer has Bergamot Fruit Oil which some might consider an essential oil. Personally, I don’t, as it doesn’t have that unmistakable scent. If there’s any fragrance resulting from the essential oil, it is barely noticeable, so don’t let that single ingredient deter you from greatness.
Texture & Consistency
This moisturizer has a super interesting texture. It is thick quite alright, but according to COSRX, it is described as a matte balm. The idea is to offer comfort to sensitive and acne-prone skin types without the oily and greasiness. The fact that this moisturizer gives a matte finish is definitely a turn off for me, but I still wanted to enjoy it. Instead, I noticed that by layering hydrating products underneath and Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy over it, the matte-ness does bother me at all.
Price, Packaging & Avalibility
It is packaged in a hygienic 80g tube which ensures that you only dispense the amount you need to use. If you’re buying it directly from Korea, it retails for about $15 which isn’t too bad at all. As with most COSRX products, you can purchase this from any major Asian retailer.
Review of The Cosrx Comfort Ceramide Cream
As someone with dry dehydrated skin, I honestly appreciate thick emollient moisturizers like this because it shows that the brand is thinking outside the box. While it’s nice to have products that can work across all skin types, it excludes people with skin types like mine.
Performance
As I mentioned earlier, I use this moisturizer as the last step of my nighttime skincare routine. I layer all my toners, serums and treatments before applying a thick quantity over my entire face to seal up all the moisture. As the brand has highlighted, this is a non-greasy formula so if you like your moisturizers with a dewy finish, you will need an oil or an occlusive over it for that dewiness.
Despite how thick the product is, it glides perfectly on my skin and sinks in almost immediately whilst still leaving a slight protective film over my face. I think this is a result of the Beeswax in the formula. Plus, I love how you can feel the smoothness after application that shows how moisturized your skin is.
So, who can use it?
- People with dry to dehydrated (winter) skin.
- Anyone with a damaged skin barrier.
- People with sensitized or reactive skin.
For people with oily to combination acne-prone skin, you might find this product too heavy except you live in a super dry climate. In that case, I suggest you opt for the lightweight version: Cosrx Comfort Cool Ceramide Soothing Gel Cream.
Finally,
This is a great moisturizer/balm and I’m not even surprised. Every time I try a new product from COSRX, I’m always impressed. I hope that continues for a long time.
