This post will be reviewing The Inkey List Tumeric Moisturizer.
The first time I tried this moisturizer during my first mini haul from The Inkey List, I hated it so much. I used it during the summer and I thought it was going to work as the perfect lightweight moisturizer. Plus it had Tumeric in it and I was really hoping to enjoy some brightening benefits of Tumeric. I was wrong!
It’s a couple of months later and I’m almost done with the product. While I don’t hate it as much anymore, it finally found a place in my Nighttime routine.
First Impressions of The Inkey List Tumeric Moisturizer
According to The Inkey List,
This brightening moisturizer with antioxidant properties helps to prevent and re-hydrate dry skin.
Thanks to the antioxidant properties of Turmeric, combined with added Vitamin E and Squalane, this moisturizer can soothe dryness while helping skin appear brighter with a more even skin tone. It can also target redness and calm irritation.
Overview
As the product has been described, this is a lightweight moisturizer that is targeted towards dry and irritated skin. The fact that it had dry skin in its product description was one of the reasons I was drawn to it. If you’re not aware, I have dry dehydrated skin and I’m currently on a mission to find the best products that will work for my skin type.
Ingredient List
This moisturizer has a really nice ingredient list that is alcohol and fragrance-free. It has ingredients such as Oat Flour, Tumeric Root Extract, Squalane and Glycerin. It’s a simple and no-fuss ingredient list. I particularly like it because of the absence of actives. So, this will really work as a final moisturizer layered above strong actives or a soothing moisturizer for irritated skin.
Texture & Consistency
It has a creamy consistency that absorbs really fast into the skin. It’s not heavy at all but slightly greasy which I’m sure is a result of the presence of Squalane. As a result of its lightweight texture, it simply offers surface hydration as opposed to deep hydration rich moist creams offer. This explains why I didn’t enjoy using it initially. But I recently went back to it because I started layering quite a lot of hydrating products for the cold weather. I found the texture to be perfect at the end of a routine with actives or if I did my routine very late and wanted that fast absorption before sleeping.
Price & Size
It’s quite an affordable moisturizer that goes for £8 for 30ml. But when compared to other drugstore alternatives, it’s quite expensive for the quantity.
Review of The Inkey List Tumeric Moisturizer
The most annoying thing about this product is the fragrance. While the brand tried to be mostly artificial fragrance-free, the fragrance from the Tumeric Root Extract is so overwhelming and off-putting. It’s not quite an enjoyable experience at all. The only way to avoid it is to layer it with other products that have nicer fragrances. This way, it is barely noticeable at the end.
How I Use It
The first time I got it, I used it by itself which turned out to be a huge mistake. So, I tossed it aside for a few months until I recently went back to it. I use it on days when I layer multiple actives such as my staple Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin and Azelaic Acid for hyperpigmentation. I also use it on days when I want to repair my skin’s barrier from after over-exfoliating. It helps soothe and calm my irritated skin.
In Conclusion,
This is a super basic moisturizer that anyone can use. If your skin gets irritated easily, you will definitely find it soothing. If you also have dry skin, you might enjoy it if it is layered over hydrating products ( like toners, essences and serums) or under thicker emollients like a moisturizing SPF or healing ointment.
Unfortunately, I won’t be repurchasing this product. Instead, I would use the opportunity to try out other moisturizers the brand has to offer.
