Paula’s Choice 2% Body Spot Exfoliant – Review

This post will be reviewing the Paula’s Choice 2% Body Spot Exfoliant.

I’ve spent the last couple of years perfecting my facial skincare routine. [In fact, I just got a delivery from Reliable RX Pharmacy where I purchased products to target my body hyperpigmentation.] From researching ingredients and finding the best options for my skin concerns to slotting the products into routines without burning off my face. It’s been quite an exciting journey and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Last year, during the first lockdown, I finally decided to start paying attention to my body. The first thing I did was to get cheap fragranced products that I otherwise wouldn’t use on my face. I shared my routine on Body Skincare Routine for Hyperpigmentation. In hindsight, those products were probably not the best options but they are a decent starting point. Between then and now, I’ve gone through various body care routines and I’m ready to talk about one of my holy grail products: the Paula’s Choice 2% Body Spot Exfoliant.

I’ve been using this product for about three months. I’ve exhausted it and brought a replacement. That’s just how good it is.

First Impressions Of the Paula’s Choice 2% Body Spot Exfoliant

According to Paula’s Choice:

This moisturising, silky body spot exfoliant contains salicylic acid (BHA) which works to gently exfoliate dry, rough skin, for example on the back or shoulders (bacne). It leaves skin hydrated, smooth and soft. BHA also helps improve the appearance of hard clogged pores on arms and legs. With continued use skin is left smoother, younger-looking and more radiant.

Ingredient List

A quick look at the ingredient list shows that it is packed with soothing extracts but before that let’s focus on the 2% Salicylic Acid. Before discovering this product, I wanted the get the bestselling Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant. I figured since it was very effective for my face, it would be for my body as well. Imagine how excited I was to find out that there was an equivalent product for the body. Plus, this is the only product I’ve seen so far that uses 2% Salicylic Acid and discloses it.

Asides from the star ingredient, there are also a bunch of others that make the product well-rounded. These includes:

  • Antioxidant: Vitamin E
  • Soothing: Chamomile Extract, Willow Herb, Green Tea, Allantoin and Bisabolol.

It is worth mentioning here that it is also alcohol, essential oil and fragrance-free. So, if you want to use it for your face, it is worth trying.

Texture & Consistency

It has a lightweight albeit creamy consistency. It’s not too thick or too heavy. It’s good enough to work across all skin types. Although, if you have dry dehydrated skin like me, you might prefer to layer a much emollient moisturizer over it. Otherwise, the texture is great.

Price, Size & Avalability

The only downside to this product is the price. But is any Paula’s Choice product affordable? It’s not exactly an affordable brand so you have to be intentional about the products you choose to invest in. Yes, they are an investment. After trying quite a number of body exfoliants on the market, I can categorically tell you that this product is worth the investment.

For a 210ml worth of a quality 2% Salicylic Acid product, $28/£31 is not too bad especially since it will last you for a few months.

Review of the Paula’s Choice 2% Body Spot Exfoliant

When it comes to my body, like most people, I struggle with Keratosis Pilaris. After trying so many products on the market claiming to target KP, I feel like I’ve finally found results with this product.

Performance

After the first two weeks of using this product 3 – 4 times a week, I started to see results specifically on my thighs. Listen, I thought I was seeing things. It started with the middle of my thighs and before I knew it, it started moving upwards and outwards. In fact, I could see other parts of my thigh where the KP was partially disappearing. So, the next time I used the product, I focused on that area first before moving outwards.

So far, I used an entire 210ml to clear 1/4 of my thighs. So it looks like I will need a couple more tubes for my entire thighs. To be honest, I really don’t mind as long as I’m seeing great results.

Combining this product with my physical body scrub and The Ordinary Glycolic Acid has done wonders for the texture of my body.

As for Paula’s Choice’s intended use of this product, I have to mention that this product is also great for body acne. Personally, I prefer leave-on products to rinse-out products when treating acne. Whenever I feel some pimples developing on my chest or my back, I apply this product and they go away in a couple of days. If you can’t reach your back, get a body lotion applicator tool.

In Conclusion,

There’s really nothing else to add. If you struggle with Keratosis Pilaris or body acne, you need to get this product. It’s an underrated product with no hype surrounding it but it works brilliantly.
