Scinic Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence SPF 50+ – Review

When the sunscreen scandal broke in 2020, everyone started scrambling for verified and accurate sunscreens that were true to their claims. Generally, in Korean Skincare, only a few select brands with sunscreens are popular on this side of the world. If it’s not Cosrx or Missha, it is Klairs or Purito. But the rise of false sunscreen claims by famous brands gave all the underrated sunscreen brands a chance to shine. This drove the moderately popular brands with verified sunscreens like Isntree, Round Lab, Dr G, Thank You Farmer and of course, Scinic into the spotlight. People will notice as long as your product is cosmetically elegant and the protection claims are valid.

Scinic is one of those brands that I have always wanted to try but never really got around to trying. Korean Skincare can be such a rabbit hole. When you want to try new brands, that’s when your holy grail brands release exciting new products. The competition is quite literally insane.

I really want to review as many verified Korean sunscreens as possible before summer so that people hunting for them can find decent reviews.

I used this product for a bit, and I’m ready to share my experience.

First Impressions of the Scinic Enjoy Super Mild Essence SPF 50+

The strong UV protectant with moisturizing essence texture protects skin area vulnurable to UV rays and various stimuli. It also brightens skin tone and takes care of wrinkles.

Infused with 60% hydrating essence to leave skin supple, and seven kinds of plant-based extracts to soothe sun-irritated skin.

Ingredient List & Sunscreen Filters

You’ll almost always find other beneficial ingredients asides from the sunscreen filters with Korean Sunscreens. This generally contributes to the cosmetic elegance of these products. It also gives you even more reason to buy into them. For instance, this sunscreen is formulated with;

• Niacinamide
• Green Tea
• Centella Asiatica Extract
• Adenosine
• Sodium Hyaluronate
• Panthenol.

Green Tea and Centella Asiatica Extract provide antioxidant benefits, while Adenosine and Panthenol provide soothing benefits. Glycerin and Sodium Hyaluronate ensures that your skin is hydrated, while Niacinamide is the perfect sidekick for barrier repair and anti-inflammatory properties.

As for the sunscreen filters, this is a broad-spectrum product that protects against both UVA and UVB rays. They include:

• Uvinul A Plus – for UVA protection
• Tinosorb S – for both UVA and UVB protection
• Tinosorb M – for both UVA and UVB protection
• Uvinul T 150 – for UVB protection
• Parsol SLX – for UVB protection
• Uvasorb HEB – for both UVA and UVB protection

I’ve reviewed a bunch of sunscreens over the past couple of weeks, and these filters are quite frankly very impressive. I don’t think I’ve used any Korean sunscreen that provides this much protection without sacrificing its cosmetic elegance. Of course, the SPF is 50+, and the PA rating is the highest, which is PA++++. If you’re not convinced about this sunscreen. You should be now.

As always, it is alcohol, essential oil and fragrance-free.

Pacakaging, Texture & Consistency

It is packaged in a tiny 50ml tube with the perfect applicator. While its travel size probably has its benefits, it is too little for religious sunscreen users. In terms of texture, it has a lotion consistency. It is slightly thicker than the usual watery lightweight consistencies of Korean sunscreens. I was super excited to use it as it would be the perfect sunscreen for my dry, dehydrated skin. As for other skin types, it is ideal, especially if you want to skip the moisturizer.

Price & Avalibality

For a 50ml product, its RRP is about $10, depending on where you buy it. As always, you’ll mostly get it from Asian retailers, so shop around for the cheapest deals.

Review of the Scinic Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence SPF 50+

I honestly really had high hopes for this product. The texture and consistency were perfect for my dry, dehydrated skin, but unfortunately, it stung my face, ultimately putting me off. Plus, it started out dewy and dried down completely matte. I have honestly yet to recover from both disappointments.

But notwithstanding, here are some of the pros and cons of the sunscreen to help you make an informed decision before purchasing.

Pros

• Solid hydrid filters providing high protection
• No white cast
• Non – greasy and non-sticky
• Decently moisturizing
• Doesn’t sting the eyes
• Can work across most skin types without the need for a moisturizer.
• Doesn’t pill; layers well under makeup and over skincare products.
• Absorbs super fast into the skin after application

Cons

• Dries down matte. All dewiness on application disappears.
• Not necesarily water-resistant or sweat-proof.
• Stings my face, unfortunately

Ignoring the fact that it didn’t work for me, this is such a solid sunscreen that you shouldn’t skip on this year. It may be the very product you’re looking for especially if you have oily to combination skin and wear makeup.

The Scinic Enjoy Super Mild Essence SPF 50+ is definitely worth the hype and deserves all the attention it is getting. Don’t sleep on it!
